Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that affects over 5 million people in the UK. Some people with severe asthma may even struggle to jog to catch a bus, or walk up the stairs without feeling heavily out of breath. England has the highest prevalence of people with asthma in the UK with almost 80% of British asthma sufferers being from an English county - it is also notable that the UK has the highest number of children with asthma in the world.

Fortunately asthma can be controlled effectively with an asthma action plan developed with help from a doctor or asthma nurse, and by using the correct prescribed medication - usually a combination of preventer and reliever bronchodilator - inhaler. Ensuring that your asthma inhaler is always at hand before any strenuous exercise and understanding what irritants may bring about severe symptoms is essential to keeping asthma attacks at bay. If you would like to know more about asthma, you can visit the British Lung Foundation, alternatively if you have been diagnosed with asthma and require more information regarding effective prescription inhalers, click here.
