What is male pattern baldness?
Male pattern baldness is the most common form of hair loss and is scientifically known as Androgentic Alopecia. It usually begins between the ages of 20 – 30 and starts due to an increased sensitivity to male sex hormones in parts of the scalp. These hormones circulate naturally in the blood and are responsible for making the hair follicles shrink from where the hair usually grows. With age, the androgens cause the hair follicles to shrink to such a small size that they are no longer capable of replacing hair that is naturally lost. The follicles are not able to do their job due to their size however they are still alive, so treatment can be used to help.
